We started our Kentucky journey at
and let me just say—this was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our family of five. I know these are memories my kids will cherish forever.
Abide Glamping offers glamping domes, safari tents, and RV parking spaces set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Kentucky Hills. The setting feels peaceful, secluded, and truly connected to God’s creation.
The Surprise Factor
We didn’t tell our boys where we were staying—we just said, “We’re driving to the hotel.” They had no idea that we would be sleeping in a glamping dome! When we pulled up, their jaws dropped. It was the perfect fit for our family’s safari/explorer theme.
As a mom, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would it really be comfortable? Would it feel too rustic for little ones? But Abide completely exceeded my expectations.
Inside the Glamping Dome
From the outside, the dome looks cozy—but once you step in, it feels surprisingly spacious and thoughtfully designed:
✦ Main Level: Queen-sized bed, sitting area, dining table, and a kitchenette stocked for easy meals.
✦ Loft Level: Two twin beds, perfect for the boys.
✦ Extra Space: Plenty of room for our 2-year-old’s pack-and-play.
✦ Bathroom: Fully equipped with a shower, modern fixtures, and stocked linens.
✦ Comfort: Plush bedding (so comfy it rivaled my bed at home!) + air conditioning, fans, and heating—so no matter the weather, everyone sleeps well.
Every little detail felt intentional, from the cozy blankets to the way natural light filters in.
Outdoor Fun & Family Memories
Outside, our dome had a private fire pit, where we roasted marshmallows under the stars. The sweeping hillside views were absolutely breathtaking—watching the kids run, laugh, and explore while their little sister toddled after them was pure joy.
Abide is also conveniently located less than 5 miles (about 10 minutes) from the Ark Encounter, which was one of the reasons we chose it. After long days of exploring, coming back to the dome felt like the perfect mix of adventure and comfort.
Other Accommodations at Abide
While there, we toured the safari-style tents, and they were equally charming—each tucked against the tranquil forest. Some even include playful touches like a built-in slide, which my kids immediately loved.
Whether you’re in a dome, tent, or RV spot, you’ll find Abide offers a family-friendly way to connect with nature while still enjoying modern comforts.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for family-friendly glamping near the Ark Encounter, I can’t recommend Abide Glamping enough. It gave us the perfect balance of fun, adventure, and rest, while tying beautifully into our trip’s safari/exploration theme.
This stay was the ideal kickoff to our Kentucky faith-based family trip—and one we’ll never forget. You can also check out my blog A Family Guide to Visiting the Ark Encounter & Creation Museum in Kentucky, which covers our full trip!
