Visiting the Creation Museum with Kids: A Family Guide

After two amazing days at Ark Encounter, it was time to spend our third day at the Creation Museum. I had heard so much about the museum over the years but honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect.

The Creation Museum is located about 45 minutes from the Ark Encounter, near the town of Petersburg, Kentucky, and just a few minutes from CVG Airport, which makes it convenient if you’re flying in or out of the area.

You can start your trip with either the Ark or the Creation Museum, but for our family, we chose the Ark Encounter first and saved the Creation Museum for our last day. This made it an easy drive to the airport the following day and allowed us to enjoy the museum without rushing.

Planning Your Visit

If you’re planning to visit both attractions, consider the three-day hopper pass, which allows you to explore each location over three days. Children 10 and under are free every day in 2025, there’s no limit to how many kids you can bring, as long as there is one accompanying adult paid ticket, which is perfect for families like ours. You can watch our full experience here!

Highlights of the Creation Museum

The Creation Museum is a wonderful blend of education, faith, and fun for kids. Here’s what our family loved most:

✦ Biblical Creation Exhibits: The museum clearly teaches what the Bible says about creation, the origins of life, and God’s design for the world, helping children understand Scripture in a tangible way.

✦ Dinosaurs & Fossils: My boys were captivated by the fossil displays and dinosaur exhibits, which are both educational and awe-inspiring.

✦  Garden of Eden: Walking through this area was breathtaking—the exhibits vividly display God’s perfect creation in Eden, with meticulous attention to detail that illustrates His handiwork.

✦ 4D Films: Short, interactive films like the one about dragons were a big hit with the kids.

✦ Botanical Gardens & Zoo: Beautiful gardens, a small zoo, and an outdoor playground made it easy for kids to explore and enjoy the fresh air.

We also took a break for lunch at Noah’s Cafe, conveniently located near the museum entrance. With multiple cafes and snack spots on-site, it’s easy to refuel and continue exploring.

Tips for Visiting the Creation Museum with Kids

✦ Bring a stroller for younger children.

✦ Wear comfortable shoes—there’s a lot of walking!

✦ Bring water and snacks if needed.

✦ Plan for lunch at one of the on-site cafes if you’re spending the full day.

With engaging exhibits, hands-on experiences, and beautiful outdoor spaces, the Creation Museum is a must-visit for families traveling in Kentucky, especially for those looking to explore God’s creation and the truths of Scripture in a meaningful, interactive way.
