Lately, I’ve been sharing a lot about the boy’s swimming lessons and our new pool. The lovely people at Frogglez happen to come across some of my posts about the boys and our swim journey and sent them both Frogglez swim goggles.
The goggles couldn’t have been more timely because Deuce had been complaining about his eyes hurting from having them open so long underwater, and with both boys in the pool just about every day, I could see they would get red from time to time.
Because they are so young, they swim with their eyes open to measure distance and determine when to float or reach for the ledge. We have been having so much fun in the water, but I tell you that these new Frogglez were absolutely a blessing and improved their overall confidence.
Here’s what we liked about them and how I felt they were different from standard kids goggles you can find just about anywhere:
Improved Confidence Underwater: I was so surprised at how quickly Deuce got comfortable with them and began staying under water longer! This, to me, was the most significant benefit. He went from simply opening his eyes under water to see where he was going, to really playing underwater. Grasping toys and diving for “treasure” has become his new favorite game.
A comfortable strap that can actually stay on their heads: the adjustable strap that’s a waterproof fabric rather than a rubber style band was comfortable, and both boys felt fine, leaving them on their heads even when they weren’t going under water. The band is different from traditional goggles because it has two wide straps to help keep the goggles in place and not pinch little heads.
Adjustable strap to grow with your kids: While RG is a little young for them (they are for ages 3-5), I was able to adjust the strap a bit tighter to get them to fit him. For both boys, I liked that the strap was adjustable enough to expand as they grow so that I’m not buying new swim goggles every season.
Cleanliness: Next, and honestly, one of my favorite benefits as a parent is that the band is easily removable and washable. I was able to snap it off after our swim and dump it in the wash with the rest of the beach towels and boys swimwear. After washing, I just left them out to dry. This made it easy and germ-free, which is even more critical as we all work to fight off the current pandemic.
In reviewing several brands on Amazon, I honestly did not see a considerable price difference between Frogglez and other brands that did not have all of the features and benefits as these. I’d definitely recommend these for parents of swimmers five and under. The only downside we’ve experienced now is that our three-year-old insists I buy goggles for myself and his dad so that we can play under water with him – so mamas just be prepared for that!
